Reflective Heat Shield
Product Description
- Textile Technologies reflective heat shield is a weavelocked continuous filament glass cloth with one side laminated to an aluminium foil and a special high temperature, high tack adhesive backing applied to the underside.
- The aluminium foil and weavelock prevent fray after cutting and is suitable for use as protection against radiant heat.
- Film adhesive is rated to 180°C* (see brochure page), base fabric to 550°C in optimum conditions.
Important Note: Size details stated may be slightly less due to loss during the lamination and cutting process.
Applications
- Component of High Temperature Sewn Fabrications
- Industrial Heat Shielding (Reflection)
- Automotive Radiant Heat Reflection
- Reflective Heat Shields
FAQs
Question:
I am restoring a Renault 5 turbo 2 80's mid-engine rally car and need to cover the fire wall and engine bay in heat reflective/ fireproof material what do you suggest?
Answer:
Reflective Heat Shield or Shieldtex780 for premium grade or if aesthetics are important Goldshield or Magmashield.
Question:
The Firewall has a lot of curved surfaces, so the material needs to be able to conform to the required profiles.
Answer:
Reflective Heat Shield conforms to almost all profiles and cuts easily with sharp scissors or a standard cutting knife.
Question:
Is it UV resistant?
Answer:
Yes, unlike aluminised polyester film glass cloth products, foil is resistant to UV light.
Question:
Is it suitable for outdoor use?
Answer:
It will survive some light rain but as with any laminated product the life of the product will depend very much on whether the application is static or subjected to mechanical abrasion, the number of dry and wet cycles and temperatures involved. It is more often used to deflect dry radiant heat from exhausts.
